Based on the novel of the same name, 666 has assembled an intriguing cast to develop a premise that will work well both in terms of individual episodes and season-embracing story arcs. ABC seemed willing to add only one new "magical" series to its roster, and from the beginning seemed to hold the advantage among execs over Gotham and its version of Beauty and the Beast.
