The basic plan for the third season is to loosely follow the plot of the Sookie Stackhouse novel Club Dead, in which Sookie works with a Mississippi werewolf named Alcide to track down Bill, who has been kidnapped and is being held hostage by a powerful pack of vampires. But the series has taken on its own life, so fans of each of the series's breakout characters will see them developing further this year.
