Flavor of 'Fringe':

Fringe is designed to bring the viewer into frightening situations through accessible characters; this leaves open the opportunity for comedy and romance even in the context of gruesome death and destruction. The tone reaches for the eeriness of The X-Files but its lab-based scientific forensics pulls it back from Mulder and Scully's lonely field work, tilting it a bit toward a paranormal CSI.
