The Humans
Note: The Cylon humanoids can’t be distinguished from humans, and not all twelve of the humanoid models are accounted for. For this reason it’s possible that someone we think is human now might later turn out to be a Cylon.
- Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos) is the stern father-figure to the fleet. He earned his reputation as a maverick by forbidding computer networking aboard his ship, to make sure Galactica could not be compromised by Cylons. This looked like paranoia until the Cylon attack.
- Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) was education secretary before the Cylon attack; now she finds herself President of the twelve colonies. She realizes she must become a leader – and a politician – if she is to help salvage the human race.
- Lt. Kara “Starbuck” Thrace (Katee Sackhoff) is a cocky, hotshot fighter pilot who faces hard choices as the new Cylon war constantly throws new obstacles in her path.
- Captain Lee “Apollo” Adama (Jamie Bamber) was estranged from his father, Commander Adama, over the death of his brother, a green fighter pilot named Zach. Each new phase of the Cylon war creates opportunities for friction between two willful men.
- Dr. Gaius Baltar (James Callis) One of humanity’s great geniuses, Baltar’s overriding interest is himself. Yet he is not above feeling guilt for making the Cylon attack possible, by allowing his girlfriend (who later turned out to be a version of the Cylon humanoid Six) access to the military defense grid.
- Colonel Saul Tigh (Michael Hogan) is Adama’s old friend and loyal executive officer. His heavy drinking, which occasioned only disdain in peacetime, now makes him a possible liability to the fleet.
- Billy Keikeya (Paul Campbell) is Roslin’s boyish aide who learns resourcefulness in his work but has trouble wooing his crush, “Dee” Dualla.
- Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) commands the Galactica flight deck. Gruff and impatient, his unflagging faith in Adama and humanity’s future is tested when he finds Cylons among his own friends.
- Petty Officer Anastasia Dualla (Kandyse McClure) is the communications officer aboard Galactica and often finds quiet, efficient ways to get things done.
- Lt. Felix Gaeta (Alessandro Juliani) is the bright and idealistic tactical officer aboard Galactica.
- Lt. Karl C. “Helo” Agathon (Tahmoh Penikett) was left behind on Caprica, forcing him to find a way to survive on a world overrun by Cylons.
The Cylons
- Number Six (Tricia Helfer) is tall, blonde, beautiful, and driven. As the Cylon given the task of first infiltrating humans, she learned enough about them to develop an illness that’s dangerously destabilizing to the Cylon plan: individuality.
- Leoben Conoy (Callum Keith Rennie) is the “philosophical” Cylon model. Leoben has an alarming capacity to cause others to question their beliefs.
- Lt. Sharon “Boomer” Valerii (Grace Park) is one of the most loyal and capable officers in Adama’s fleet – but her world falls apart when she begins to suspect she might be a Cylon.
- Aaron Doral (Matthew Bennett) is the publicist whom Adama suspected in an early episode might be a Cylon.
The Creators
- Ronald D. Moore (executive producer, writer) was responsible for some of the most memorable episodes from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and for the cult hit Roswell.
