In January 2012 it was announced that Christopher Heyerdahl, a longtime mainstay of supernatural TV series and movies, had gained one of his most prominent gogs yet, joining season 5 of the hit HBO vampires-and-werewolves-and-sundry series True Blood in a recurring role. So this seems like a good time to look back on all the times the towering, Vancouver-based character actor has cropped up in some of our favorite franchises.
In True Blood, Heyerdahl will be playing Dieter Braun, an ancient, powerful vampire who plays a large part in the intelligence of the Authority -- and has a remarkable aptitude for creative torture. Commentators on the net were quick to point out that Heyerdahl was yet another actor to play a vampire in more than one venue (he plays Marcus in the Twilight saga, as we'll see). But the torturing aspect is also a callback -- this time to his memorable stint on Supernatural.
