What 'Chuck' Is About:

Chuck Bartowski works as a tech rep inside a big-box electronics store who once opened an email that downloaded the Intersect, an entire server of government secrets and trend analyses, into his brain. Competing CIA and NSA agents Sarah and John work with Chuck to utilize Chuck's skullfull of unwanted secrets. At the end of season 2 Chuck got an upgrade, which provided him with martial arts abilities, etc.

Key 'Chuck' Characters:

Zachary Levi manages to convey a smarter character than the scripts sometimes give him, while maintaining Chuck's temptation to panic in a crisis and general dorkiness. Yvonne Strahovski is winsome and effective as Sarah, but she's way too pretty to be a CIA agent. Sour-faced Adam Baldwin, as the NSA's Major John Casey, with his excellently wry Charles Grodinesque mannerisms is probably the best thing about the show.

Flavor of 'Chuck':

Though the nerd is the show's hero, Chuck occasionally succumbs to easy comedy send-ups of Chuck's minders (Sarah's original cover was that she worked at a weiner stand); but these guys are still the professionals and do the heavy lifting spy-wise. The humor (if Chuck's jarringly obnoxious sidekick, Morgan, is discounted) is smarter than it looks at first blush, especially once Chuck, Sarah, and John forged themselves into a team in the first season.
