Never mind that critics think it's not only dumb but poorly executed: The Neighbors has solid enough numbers that ABC wants it in the dugout for the rest of the year.
The Neighbors received a back-nine order from ABC, giving it a full season for 2012-13. The sitcom has been improving its audience numbers over the last few weeks, garnering around a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 7 million viewers overall, but it's getting strong numbers with kids and teens as well, hinting at why ABC is interested in keeping it around.
ABC has not been in a hurry to sort out the tail end of the current season. The pickup, along with one for Scandal, are ABC's first full season orders for the fall season, and the fates of certain shows--particularly 666 Park Avenue--are looking dire.

I’m happy to see The Neighbors secure a full season. It’s a great show to relax and laugh to, after mostly dramas fill my DVR list. A few friends that work with me at DISH think that the pro-athlete names are hilarious—the Reggie Jackson intro was amazing. I like to have a laugh whenever I want to, so I’m saving the entirety of the premiere season to my DISH Hopper. It’s nice to have a DVR with enough memory so that I don’t have to pick and choose which shows to watch. Now I just need to find out of 666 Park Avenue will survive.
I really like watching this show, the show must go on, seriously.
