Sometimes, reading through the casting notes for upcoming shows it sounds like they're just yelling out random names. Terry O'Quinn! Billy Burke! Vanessa Williams!

Beauty and the Beast (ABC incarnation)--Irish actress Ruth Bradley, who recently played Emily Merchant on several episodes of Primeval, snagged the title role of ABC's Beauty and the Beast playing Grace, an embattled princess. Bradley will star along with Scottish-Iranian Darius Campbell who will play Shiro, Grace's "beast" of a bodyguard, making this Beauty/Beast meet-up unexpectedly Celtic in nature. Also this week, Karen LeBlanc (Eve Shaw from Defying Gravity) as cast as Ehren, the leader of the rebel band that wants to see Emperor Dorian (F. Murray Abraham!) dethroned. (Wait, did this Beauty and the Beast just merge with an alternate-universe Flash Gordon? Because all I can think reading that is the Abraham would make a great Ming.)
Revolution--NBC's postapocalyptic drama pilot about a world where the energy sources have stopped working added Billy Burke (best known as the mustachioed sheriff/dad in the Twilight franchise) in an unspecified role. He joins Giancarlo Esposito.
Defiance--Syfy's humans-coexisting-with-aliens TV/video game hybrid has added two prominent sci-fi stars, Julie Benz and Jamie Murray, to a cast led by Grant Bowler. Interestingly enough, five years ago Benz and Murray were costars in Dexter, and showed they had great chemistry together as they fought for Dexter's allegiance. Benz is playing Amanda Rosewater, the idealistic new mayor of a mining town, and Murray is the beautiful and proper wife of alien elite Datak Tarr (Tony Curran from Pillars Of The Earth).
666 Park Avenue--ABC's supernatural drama pilot added former beauty queen Vanessa Williams (Desperate Housewives) to play Olivia, who with husband Gavin (Terry O'Quinn) owns the historic luxury apartment building that sports supernatural activities.
The Selection--Australian actress Peta Sergeant, star of several popular series down under, was cast in The CW's pilot about the future lottery to become wartime queen, sometimes compared to The Hunger Games, as Gaia Woods, joining Ethan Peck as Prince Maxon, Aimee Teegarden as America, and Sean Patrick Thomas.
