Being Human starts its eight-episode season 4 on Saturday, Feb. 25, and will constitute a deliberate departure from the series's origins in the powerful Mitchell-George-Annie dynamic. With Mitchell gone and George on his way out, Being Human has no choice but to embrace its fate and "take you to somewhere we've never been to before," in the words of series creator Toby Whithouse.
"We knew this year was going to be especially tough because of the various cast changes. ... But the essential DNA of the show remains the same," Whithouse said. "Recently I found the pitch document I wrote for season one. This was the opening paragraph: We're the stuff of nightmares. And we're your only hope. George, Mitchell and Annie yearn for their vanished humanity. Being Human is a unique twist on the aspirational drama, as the things Mitchell, Annie and George struggle to achieve are so common place and normal to us, yet impossibly remote to them. And the desire to be accepted by their old lost race will drive them to acts of immense courage, and foolish hazard. Our heroes may be like characters that have tumbled from the pages of a book, but their problems are always recognisably human, and the stories will strike a balance between the supernatural and the domestic."
"Obviously," Whithouse mused, "a lot can happen in four years. But looking back at it now, I'm relieved to see that those words are still relevant for a show that has a new cast, a new location, an American reincarnation and expanded beyond our wildest dreams. As ever, Being Human lives or dies on the strength of the characters and the cast, and that's why I think this season is our strongest yet."
What's in store for our supernatural heroes? Season 4 starts with George, Annie, and their previously established vampire-hunter werewolf friend Tom dealing with the aftermath Mitchell's death; the restless vampire community and their ruthless overlords, the Old Ones; a newborn baby the vampires think is important--to them; the threatened exposure of werewolves; a malevolent ghost; and, as always, the fundamental agony of monsters trying to live as humans. (So at least we'll presumably get to see Russell Tovey dealing with changing diapers on a werewolf baby before he bows out.)
Writers for season 4 include Toby Whithouse, Lisa McGee (creator of Raw), Jamie Mathieson (who wrote the charming Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel), Tom Grieves (creator of The Ghost Squad), and John Jackson (Robin Hood).

Can’t wait for season four but will miss mitchell
I want Mitchell and George to stay i love george he’s quirky and awesome. Oh, by the way the american version sucks. I can say that because Im an american.
I wish they’d bring Mitchell back – maybe as a dark angel or something? I love their chemistry together…love this show.
Just saw the last eps of season 3 heart broken. The Brits nailed it, our stupid hokey version is embarrassing. Will watch season 4 when we can see it in the US, but Mitchell is already being missed. And George is just adorable and a riot !!!!!!
I really loved being human UK and just could not stop watching it. I have waited and counted the days till its return. I also have watched States version of the show and UK blew it away by far. Now I must say though, with the character changes, i forced myself to watch episode one and tried to watch episode 2 of season 4 but just lost me completely as a viewer. Sad in my opinion an brilliant show shot to bits now.
