The all-star creative team behind Fox's midseason adventure drama Terra Nova has tapped the Irish actor for the leader of a group of settlers who travel back in time to the prehistoric era to form a colony.
The Shannons are an ordinary family from 2149 who flee a dying Earth by being transported back 85 million years and joining Terra Nova, a colony of humans trying to carve out a second chance to build a civilization. O'Mara's Jim Shannon, a devoted father with a uneven past, struggles to guide his family through the beauties and terrors of this primeval world.
Alex Graves (Fringe, Journeyman) will direct the pilot for the series, which is being created by a raft of names like Steven Spielberg and Brannon Braga.
