Primeval Movie in the Works

The rights went for the high six figures, says Variety, and Hollywood stalwart Akiva Goldsman (whose current film is the Dan Brown sequel Angels and Demons) is lined up to produce, but not to script, the feature.
The blockbuster appeal of the dinosaurs/time travel premise is obvious. "There is a solid mythology to the series, but the movie has the dinosaur element of Jurassic Park and the time travel element of Lost, and it just feels like the kind of big movie that Warner Brothers does well," Foster said.
With the emphasis on spectacle already palpable in the early talk about the film, one wonders how much the human side of Primeval is at risk. It seems to have already been decided to Americanize the film, setting the action in the U.S. (well, I've been wondering why there would only be wormhole anomalies in Great Britain anyway). What that means for characterization – and casting – is anyone's guess. Impossible Pictures, which is expanding its operations, is said to be developing a version of the series that is set outside Britain, so it's possible the Americanized Primeval film may grow out of something organic to the production and franchise.
Even with all that, this is very cool news – after all, sometimes Hollywood screws up great source material, and sometimes they conjure something even more magical. I'll keep you posted.

I think it will make a great movie!- I cant believe that ITV has cancelled the original series but maybe in time they will bring it back (Like Doctor Who) I think it would be better if they used the series Cast members (Hannah Spearitt, Andrew-Lee Potts, Jason Flemying, Ben Mansfield, Ben Miller, Laila Rouass etc) But i seriously cannot wait. I am a MASSIVE Primeval fan. Team Conby
Glad to hear there will be a movie. I’d hate for the show to end the way it did, but by the sounds of it the movie will take the same theme, but not the original actors or setting and will probably not tie up the loose ends left in the final ep of season 3. But any new Primeval is good news, even if it is the yanks doing it. I can’t see an americanized version of Primeval ever being as good as the original but I’m sure it would still be enjoyable to watch. If it does spawn an american spin-off I’d definitely give it a shot, but I doubt it would be on par with the original.
In my opinion, finish off the BBC series, give a happy ending to the British series, and leave it to a team of American scietists to continue the late Cutter’s works
