The 13-episode order is from ABC Studios (which currently produces, among other things, Legend of the Seeker). David Goyer (Blade) is executive producer/writer and director and Trek franchise veteran Brannon Braga also executive produces and is co-writer on the pilot.
It was previously announced that Flash Forward was being considered as a "companion show" to Lost, which could mean it would come after Lost on the same night or replace it during midseason hiatus.
ABC hasn't had much patience with sci-fi and fantasy this year, canceling all three of its genre offerings (Eli Stone, Life on Mars, and Pushing Daisies); its sister network did the same, unceremoniously killing off Kyle XY. So my question is: Is ABC going to give this one a chance?

If I was anyone associated with this show, I would not count on being at ABC for very long. A Scifi show on ABC/ABC Family already has two strikes against before it even starts thus the reason for only a half season order. I wish them well but I won’t be watching. I’m boycotting all new ABC/ABC Family programs since ABC Family cancelled Kyle XY. I’m not making the mistake of getting attached to a show on their networks ever again.
ABC/ABC Family have shown that they do not know how to properly handle science fiction shows. They are unwilling to make the effort to maintain and build a loyal audience. “KyleXY” was the second highest rated how on ABC Family, in spite of NO support from the network, and they STILL killed it. “Fool me once, shame on you… Fool me twice, shame on me.” NEVER AGAIN ABC!
This is bullcrap. ABC is trying to take up the slot for Kyle XY with something that is totally stupid. BRING THE TUB BACK!
Another one?! Seriously ABC needs to realize. The only good show on their network that is anywhere near sci-fi is Kyle XY. They just can’t get it that the shouldn’t buy a whole new show, just brimg back a well loved and good show. KYLE XY! Come on. You’d think they’d catch on after Roomates and Sophie crashed a burned. KARMA!
Idiots. All I can say. They canceled Kyle XY and now this. I swear something is messed up with ABC’s brain. A screw loose or something because this, this is ridiculous. I hope this show fail miserably just like the last ones. May Kyle XY live! SAVE THE TUB! SAVE KYLE XY! BRING IT BACK!
After how they treated Kyle XY and its fans it’ll be a cold day when I watch any of their programs. Bring back Kyle XY and I might think about it.
Since the cancellation of Kyle XY from ABC Family they have lost this viewer. Kyle XY was consistently their best show with some of the best ratings they ever had, and still had in comparison with the recent shows which have now been canceled due to worse ratings. Face it ABC Family, suck it up and bring back Kyle XY. You did yourself a huge disservice by not giving viewers what they want.
Well, considering I’m boycotting all things Disney in protest of canceling Kyle XY. Even if they start this show, I won’t be watching it.
They wouldn’t really give it a chance anyway, so what’s the point?
I really don’t want to even try to care about this new show. Fans are getting wise to them. They don’t care about us, so I don’t care about them.
Why would ABC networks bring another SciFi show on the lineup when they could just bring back Kyle XY with its loyal and dedicated audience of over 1.3 million US viewers? Kyle already has a built in worldwide fanbase that would follow it wherever it is shown.
I am sure that Kyle would outdo any new SciFi show that this network would bring on.
I will continue to boycott anything that this network or The Family airs unitl Kyle XY is renewed either on this network or another. Wherever Kyle goes, so does its audience.
Instead of trying out a new show that has the potential to fail, why not adopt a perfectly good sci-fi show that already has many loyal fans? “Kyle XY” isn’t a stranger to the ABC network, after all. ABC Family made a huge mistake in canceling the show. It is quite evident with their most recent drop in ratings and the complete and utter failures of “Sophie” and “Roommates”. Get with the program is you want to survive, ABCF. You’re getting what you deserve.
I enjoyed Joseph Fiennes performance in Shakespeare in Love, and I realize that actors have to eat too, so I wish him the best with this project, but it will be a VERY cold day in a VERY hot place before I watch or attach myself to another show of ANY kind on ABC/ABCF because of what they did to Kyle XY and how negligently ABCF treated the Kyle XY fans after they made specific and reasonable requests for MORE of anything Kyle XY-related.
(Btw, Kyle XY had 5 million viewers when it was on Friday nights on ABC. That should have been a BIG HINT to the networks. Even as re-runs, the show is no slouch.)
Alright. We wont curse you. We wont make fun of you. Bring back Kyle XY and we promise everything will be back to normal. And we wont even think you were regretting about the cancellation of the show when it comes back to ABCF. Just give us back our Kyle XY.
First of all abcfamily this show that is being added to your network is not good(no offence to the writer but its not my taste) second of all do you see the mistake you made with canceling Kyle XY yet? DO YOU READ COMMENTS. There are so many angry fans boycotting your network now because of the cancelation of Kyle XY. Your losing a lot of viewers because of the cancelation of Kyle XY. Kyle XY is an amazing show and the all of the actors and actesses do an amazing job and there amazing. No matter how many shows you try to replace Kyle XY with it wont help you the fans wont give up and they will still be angry for your betrayal. My birthday is coming up soon and the only thing I want that I know can happen is Kyle XY. Its my favorite show and I love it and it makes me happy. So please fix your mistake and bring back Kyle XY.
The show itself doesn’t sound so bad, though I’m not going to give it a chance. What’s the point anyway..?! They’re gonna cancel it eventually, no matter how loyal the fan base. That’s what they did with Kyle XY didn’t they..?! Despite the ongoing global efforts to save the show, ABCF just goes on about its business, pretending that everything’s normal.
Well… Here’s a reality check. U’ve certainly lost millions of viewers already for ur new show ever since the cancellation of our beloved KYLE XY. Rue the day that any KXY fan will switch on ur channel on their television sets to watch any show except the one they loved and will continue to do so! LONG LIVE KYLE XY!
Kyle XY was an incredible show, and taking out the fact that I’m a huge fan, I honestly can’t see why the show was canceled. Even looking at it from a neutral point of view, Kyle XY was a HUGE success for ABC Family (look around the internet for the comments ABC Family’s own president made about the success of Kyle XY and you’ll see what I mean). It has an extremely passionate fanbase that is making a big impact with its’ campaign to get the show back on the air. And, with a TEN MONTH hiatus between seasons (they did this twice to the show), the fan base REMAINED LOYAL the entire time.
ABC and ABC Family sucks! We want Kyle XY back! You’re losing lots of fans!

What is with you ABC? When I finally find a show on your network that I get into instead of NBC do you insult me with a cancellation? I WILL NOT WATCH ANY ABC CHANNEL SHOWS AFTER MAY27!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flash Forward is brilliant. Why do you want to axe it???? it weaves & dances about and tells the story brilliantly. It is the best tv programme for years.
