What really makes me happy about these cakes is the loving attention to detail. The watery blue event horizon, for example, comes through perfectly on the cakes that feature it. And check out the staff weapons on the ground nearby in the one pictured at right.
It's a pleasant reminder that the massive creative force that's involved in making these shows also engages and inspires the people who love them. Creativity is an iterative act.
What else would make good cakes? I'm thinking starships might be perfect. Okay, maybe not the Enterprise (only a month to go before the movie opens!), but Serenity would make a good cake. Or – even better – Moya from Farscape. Though since Moya's a living ship, it might make you think too much about what you'd be eating if it were real.
