This Week (Nov. 3 - 9)

The elections are wreaking havoc with shows airing early in the week, but late-week and weekend shows have new episodes: Knight Rider, Smallville, Supernatural, Life on Mars, Ghost Whisperer, Stargate Atlantis, Sanctuary, Legend of the Seeker, Valentine, and True Blood are all new this week.

This week's guest stars include

• Laura Vandervoort, returning for the first time to Smallville as Kara;
• Whoopi Goldberg, all fro'd out on Life on Mars as a radical activist;
• SNL alumnus Ana Gasteyer appears on Valentine; and
• the episode description is coy, but we all know which arch-villain is returning to Stargate Atlantis.
• Edit to add: Ted Raimi, brother of executive producer Sam Raimi (and who pops up regularly in his brother's Spider-Man films) guest stars on this week's Legend of the Seeker.

• Knight Rider "Knight of the Living Dead" 1x06. There's a big bad trick on Halloween when an intruder kills a tech inside Knight Industry headquarters. Meanwhile, a storm strands Mike and Sarah on a flight as they race against time to save KITT from self-destruction.
• Smallville "Bloodline" 8x08. Clark receives an anonymous package containing the crystal that Tess (Cassidy Freeman) found in the Arctic. When he removes the crystal, it activates and sends him and a visiting Lois to the Phantom Zone where they run into Kara (guest star Laura Vandervoort). Kara opens a portal for Lois to return but Zod's wife Faora escapes with her and takes over Lois's body. A possessed Lois goes on a rampage in Metropolis.
• Supernatural "Wishful Thinking" 4x08. Sam and Dean investigate a small town where the wishing well really works. A teddy bear comes to life, someone wins the lottery and the town geek gets a hot girlfriend. The brothers realize that while everyone is happy now, the end result will be disastrous.
• Life on Mars "Things to Do in New York When You Think You're Dead" 1x05. A black girl is thrown from a rooftop, touching off racial tensions between the black and Puerto Rican communities. Sam works the case with officer Fletcher Bellow, his mentor in 2008, who doesn't know him in 1973. Whoopi Goldberg guest stars.
• Ghost Whisperer "Imaginary Friends and Enemies" 4x06. A child's pretend friend wreaks havoc at a wedding, and Melinda must play hide-and-seek to settle the spirit.
• Stargate Atlantis "The Prodigal" 5x14. An old foe usurps Atlantis by breaching the Gate Room, forcing McKay and Sheppard to make an arduous climb while a scheme involving Teyla's son unfolds.
• Sanctuary "Nubbins" 1x05. When two seemingly harmless abnormals arrive at the Sanctuary, the team finds themselves feeling some unusual animal attraction for one another.
• Legend of the Seeker "Bounty" 1x03. Denfir, a bounty hunter, pays a visit to Sebastian, the cartographer, because he needs a map that can track Richard. While Richard, Kahlan and Zedd are unsuccessfully trying to catch a rabbit, Denfir and his henchmen capture them in some snares that leave them hanging upside down. Later on, Denfir tracks down Rolf, who stole the map earlier and demands that he hand it over. They fight and the map tears in half making them realize that they are better off working together.
• Valentine "Hound Dog" 1x06. The Valentines seek out Aunt Circe (Ann Magnuson), a witch who can produce metamorphoses, when the perfect match for a divorcee (Ana Gasteyer) appears to be her dog. Meanwhile, no one believes that Danny was assaulted in the mansion, and Ari has his own reasons to visit Aunt Circe.
• True Blood "I Don't Wanna Know" 1x10. Sam tells Sookie a secret when he's caught in a difficult position; Jason and Amy plot their next move with Eddie; Arlene and Rene have their engagement party at Merlotte's; and Bill goes on trial for his recent offense.
