An Iron Man Post-Mortem
Monday June 2, 2008
I just wanted to point out here an essay, as opposed to a review, that Roger Ebert has posted on his blog concerning Iron Man, which he was able to see only recently.
Encountering the film weeks after its premiere and knowing nothing about the characters, Ebert was struck by the film's innovation, wit, and spot-on performances, starting with Robert Downey Jr. He made some interesting points about why the film works, having to do with characterization, plot, and tone.
Ebert's essay is here. More on Iron Man: my review, a note on the post-credits scene, an image gallery, and video and clips.
