Chuck fans, get ready for not one but two curve balls: Our favorite nerd/superspy returns on Thursday, Jan. 24, with two episodes – both airing that night (8 p.m. and 10 p.m.).

In the first episode, "Chuck Versus the Undercover Lover," is a John Casey episode: a flashback to the year 2004 finds Major Casey is involved with a Russian photojournalist named Ilsa. Now Ilsa has returned with a fiance, Victor, but it turns out Ilsa has other secrets. Adam Baldwin is easily one of the best things about this show, so this episode has a lot of potential.

In "Chuck Versus the Marlin," we get two new characters, both after the Intersect (i.e., Chuck). Meanwhile, Awesome (or, if you prefer, Devon, played by Ryan McPartlin) is going to propose to Ellie (Sarah Lancaster), and delegates Chuck to hang onto the ring (ruh-roh); he stashes it in his locker at work. A beautiful, young female enemy agent (because only beautiful people can be spies on this show) blows Chuck's cover, and a handsome CIA agent (what was I saying?) who is posing as an undercover police detective investigating a major theft at the Buy More (guess what got stolen?). Chuck ends up getting yanked out of his life and stuck in a cell while the NSA figures out what to do with him.

Fortunately that's not where they're going to leave it. There will supposed to be five more new episodes of Chuck after these two.
