People's Choice Nominees Notice Sci-Fi / Fantasy Films, But Not TV

The box-office receipts for blockbuster fantasies like the Pirates of the Caribbean, Spider-Man, and Harry Potter franchises and newcomers like Michael Bay's blowed-em-up-good Transformers have driven recognition of sci-fi / fantasy films in the nominee list for this year's People's Choice Awards, the statues chosen by the viewers themselves.
But TV sci-fi, where the stakes and visibility aren't as high, is recognized only in its own category, "Favorite Sci-Fi TV Show." The nominees there are Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, and Stargate Atlantis.
