New Shows Premiering this Week: Fallen, Jekyll, Masters of Science Fiction, Flash Gordon

Ready for the new season to start? We're getting a taste this week, four notable premieres – three of them this weekend. Since they're all on opposite each other, you're going to have some choices. A nice and unusual pickle to be in a for a sci-fi/fantasy fan, that's for sure. More on all of these shows will be coming, as well as a preview of the new shows debuting for the fall season proper in a few weeks.

Fallen, featuring Paul Wesley as a half-human, half-angel teenager, was a two-part TV movie last summer on ABC Family; it was successful enough to bring back for another round this year. Last year's installment is rebroadcast tonight (Friday, Aug. 3), followed by the new stuff Saturday and Sunday on ABC Family, all starting at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Jekyll is a British import starring James Nesbitt in an update of the classic story. It debuts for us stateside on BBC America tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 4) at 8 p.m.

Masters of Science Fiction is an anthology show featuring top writers, directors, and actors; follow the link to find a review and more info. The first episode airs Saturday at 8 p.m. on ABC.

And next weekend we'll get Eric Johnson as Flash Gordon, the revamp on the Sci Fi channel. The new show debuts Friday, Aug. 10 at 9 p.m.
