It was cool enough to see Star Trek vet George Takei on Heroes (especially as he appeared in the same episode with ex-Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston). Now Takei, who plays Kaito Nakamura, the father of Masi Oka's Hiro, has revealed that his character will recur next season and will have powers of his own.

Takei discussed his role recently on Sirius's Howard Stern show, where he hinted that Kaito will exhibit some form of light-emitting powers. This is in keeping with the gradual revelation over the closing episodes of season 1 of a previous generation of people with special abilities, including people like Malcolm McDowell's Linderman. Series executive producer Tim Kring, in an interview with superherohype.com, confirmed that this previous generation will be a focus of at least part of season 2.

"For those people who were watching closely, they've realized that there is this other generation of people, parents like the Petrellis' mother and Linderman and Richard Roundtree's character and George Takei, all those characters represented another generation of people who dealt with these same issues," Kring said.

"Season 2 will deal with some of the legacy that they've left behind, some of the mess they've left behind for the next generation to fix, so there's a big thematic as far as that in the sins of the parents being visited on the childen."
