Big Finish, in fact, gets some of the credit for keeping Doctor Who alive long enough for the new series to be greenlit.
The reviving power of the audio play has now been applied to Doctor Who's cousin, Terry Nation's Blake's 7, with full-cast audio dramas being webcast three times a week at SCI FI UK. The cast is led by Derek Riddell and includes India Fisher (Charley from several of the Eighth Doctor Big Finish audio dramas), Carrie Dobro from Crusade, and Craig Kelly (a veteran of the BBCi webcast Scream of the Shalka, but best known as Vince from the British Queer As Folk). More good news for Doctor Who fans: the audio plays are written by Ben Aaronovitch, author of the standout Seventh Doctor adventures "Remembrance of the Daleks" and "Battlefield."
